Teach in China: Is it worth it?
Is it worth my time, my effort, my finances to go on a four week missions trip far from all the comforts of home … to a land I know little about, where people speak a language I neither speak nor understand? Is it worth it to endure hardships and eat strange foods, not knowing what I will be doing from one hour to the next? Is it worth it to be away from my family … leaving them to care for themselves?
Is a volunteer missions trip to China to teach English worth all the effort and sacrifice? Ask God. And when He answers you (Matthew 25:31-40), allow His answer to become action in your life. He calls many; sadly, all don't respond. Will you be the one to answer His call?
Yes, the Holy Spirit is very active in mainland China. He's been there long before we were ever there. Did you know that 1.0% of the Chinese people are Christians? That's a lot of believers. People like Lottie Moon, Hudson Taylor and Bill Wallace served in China sacrificially in God's name. And now you have a chance to answer that same calling for a short time.
For up to six (6) weeks during late June, July and maybe part of August 2008, you can take action to place yourself in His service. All that is required is a high school diploma, a college degree or English as Second Language (ESL) training.
Now is the time to begin praying for God's direction. If He truly isn't calling you to go, then pray for the name of one He is calling. Help that one to fulfill the calling to go..
The doors of China are open wide.
Who better to go through them than Christian people?
